Frequently Asked Questions

Who carries out the assessments?

Assessments are completed by highly skilled experts in their field. For Autism Assessments, these are completed by a multi-disciplinary team (minimum of two professionals involved) and our ADHD assessments are completed by a clinical expert. All assessment clinicians are supervised by a Consultant-level professional, such as a Psychiatrist or a Consultant Psychologist. This ensures all assessments are completed in line with NICE Guidance.

What makes your service different?

It is understandable to feel confused and overwhelmed in choosing a service that is right for you. Our team of experts also understands that life can be busy, and the need to be discreet while having a service that works with your schedule can take a lot of the stress out of the assessment journey.

How do I book an assessment?

We want to ensure the journey is bespoke to you, while also adhering to national guidance. We will book a private consultation to discuss what has brought you to think about an assessment and what your requirements are. If we think we are the right service for you, we will provide a bespoke proposal for you to ensure the assessment meets your expectations and what we think will add value clinically. If you are comfortable with the proposal, we will then get the assessment journey booked in.

Do you offer online or in‑person assessments?

Your assessment will be completed in the manner that best works for you and what is clinically effective. We will discuss the options during the initial call.

Why do I have to pay for a Private Consultation?

The private consultation is free of charge to help you determine whether we are the right service for you. Following the private consultation, the investment will be clearly outlined, and we will also provide you with our pricing logic information.

What is Autism, and why get assessed?

Autism is also known as Autism Spectrum Condition or Autism Spectrum Disorder; however, the term disorder is not widely used anymore as it is not felt to be neuroaffirming. Autism is a term to describe significant differences in social communication and interactions, which are also accompanied by repetitive and restrictive behaviours such as stimming, routine and rituals, passions and interests and sensory needs. These differences need to be lifelong and also causing a significant impact on life.

At KADS we strongly believe that everyone has the human right to understand themselves and we should not underestimate the value of the validation of knowing your neurotype. An assessment can also help understand your needs and strengths and provide bespoke recommendations and strategies to help you reach your fill potential.

Will I automatically get a diagnosis because I am paying for my assessment?

Absolutely not. The funding of the assessment does not impact the outcome in any way. The team use their clinical expertise to understand if there is a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD and will spend time to ensure differential diagnoses cannot better explain the needs. While we understand it is a financial commitment, you are paying for the peace of mind to know either way, and regardless of the outcome, we will provide recommendations of things we think will help from our decades of experience.
